REACHING CHANIA

Crete is a big island, with many citizens and many more visitors, and it is very easy to reach the island, especially in summer time, either by plane or boat.

   -Flying to Crete

  • AIRPORTS: Crete has two main airports. One in Chania, and one in Heraclion (the larger city of Crete, 135km east of Chania)

  • International flights: During summer time, numerous charter flights arrive at both airports, in a regular basis, from all over the world.

  • Domestic flights: More than 10 flights daily from Athens (the capital of Greece) arrive at Chania, and even more arrive at Heraclion.

   -Sailing to Crete

  • Domestic ferries to Athens: Daily routes from Piraeus (capital port of Greece) to Souda (Chania's port, 6 km from Chania, 30 km from KARMI) and vice versa, and also to all other major cities of Crete (Rethymnon, Heraclion) connect Crete with mainland.

  • Regular routes from Heraclion and Sitia connect Crete with other Greek islands (Santorini, Rhodes, Tinos, Naxos, Mykonos, Skiathos etc) and with Thessaloniki (North Greece).

  • Finally, ferries from Peloponnesus and Kythira to Kissamos port are quite regular in summer time.
